Q: Do I know you from somewhere?
A: Watchers of my old deviantART account may be familiar with a certain "Oaks". Cora•Vi (yes, interpunct included) is my new pen-name, and I prefer to be called Cora.
Q: Why "Cora•Vi"? What does it mean?
A: The name Cora•Vi is an abbreviation of Corazón (Spanish for "heart") and either Vivo(a) ("living") or Victoria ("victory"), all-together meaning "Living Heart" or "Victorious Heart". Both meanings are supported and inspired by Ephesians 2:4-5 and 1 Corinthians 15:57, respectively.
Q: How do you pronounce it?
A: "KOR-uh-vee", or "koh-rah-VEE".

(Pay no mind that today just so happens to be Friday the 13th, peeps.)

Here I am, with a bit of an update.

I may potentially be moving to another account for both a fresh new start and a place to specifically showcase my fiction-related works. This, however, is undecided for now until further notice. I still have a bit of ways to go.

God bless and thanks for reading! (And thanks again for the prayers and support!)

+ UPDATE [11-29-2015] +

Thanks bunches for the lovely birthday wishes, peeps! By the way, there's a link in the deviant-ID section of the profile page just above the comments section. If you're interested in updates related to those fiction-related works, go say hi to Cora! The page is still under construction though, and it may take a while before any submissions appear. A lot of work needs to be done. God bless and hope you've all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

God bless,

:bulletwhite: Jazzy's Chatroom Status: OFFLINE

Now that my exams are done and over with, I've decided that I want to attempt to do something kinda big for this December. It's something I've been planning for some time now. I call it:

:holly: The Big Christmas Collab. :holly:

It pretty much goes like this:
[1] Throughout this merry month of December, I will be drawing simple line art as gift art for some of my Christian watchers.
[2] It will be a picture of either themselves or one of their original characters, in Chibi/SD form.
[3] Those who receive my gift art will have the opportunity to color it.
[4] All the Chibi pictures will be combined in one big picture as if united together as a big Christian family.

I have a few doodles already done for some people, but if you would like to participate I will be glad to draw a Chibi artwork for you as a gift. And even if you don't color it, I will still be glad to have drawn something for you anyway. But the point is to work together and unite believers in Christ through art, out of our love for our Lord and Savior who came to Earth to free us from our sin-bound fate so that we can be made right with God and have a relationship with our wonderful Heavenly Father.

A few helpful guidelines:
:bulletblack: It must be Christian (a given).
:bulletblack: Only ONE character per person. It will be used for representing yourself in the big picture.
:bulletblack: For OCs, I strongly recommend original characters over fan characters of other media. But if you're unsure, ask me.
:bulletblack: I provide the line art while you provide the colors for your own gift art.
:bulletblack: File format should be kept in .PNG
:bulletblack: You are free to post your gift art on your deviantART page as long as you give credit where credit is due.
:bulletblack: If you can't color it and you really want your gift art colored, I can try and color it for you. But don't worry if you don't think your coloring is the best. The project is about working together, not the quality.
:bulletblack: No backgrounds. All the pictures will be combined.
:bulletblack: Have fun!

I am hoping to have as much done as possible at least by December 26th (the day after Christmas), and if not, the deadline will be extended to December 30th.*

:pointr: *EDIT [Christmas Eve @ 9:12 AM]: Due to the understandable pacing of this month, the deadline has been extended to December 30th.

If you are interested in participating, it will be much easier to reach me by sending a Note, but I will check this journal also if you decide to send a comment instead. If you comment on my front page, I may or may not be able to find it.

Let me know what you think! Thank you for reading and God bless!

Database [Last Updated 12-31-2013 @ 12:21 PM]:

I draw best/quickest traditionally, so I will be spending much time with paper and pencil/pen. To make less trips to the scanner, I may likely be combining some drawings on one sheet, so there may be a bit of waiting when doing multiple requests.

I am very happy to hear from you guys! Thanks so much for your contribution to this project!

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 1 [12-15-2013 @ 9:40 PM]: LauraHollingsworth, SpiffytheCreative, and Ceruleanne are also offering additional help with coloring/touching up your chibi gift art if you're also interested!

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 2 [12-15-2013 @ 9:12 PM]: I see some of you appearing online but have unanswered Notes. If you had made your request yesterday or the day before, your gift art is already done. Please be sure to check your Notes. If you have not received a Note with a link to your gift art yet, do let me know as soon as you can.

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 3 [12-17-2013 @ 12:25 PM]: Starting today, a few additional coloring jobs will be handed out, particularly of the gift art given to those who are unable to color theirs. The volunteers mentioned in UPDATE 1 (above) will be the first ones to be able to work on said task. A picture of Jesus will be in progress soon, and a volunteer has already offered to color it. :)

Also, as this project comes closer to the deadline, I will be needing some help from volunteers for the planning of the very big final picture. You are also free to suggest any ideas for the overall layout, background, etc.*

*(NOTE [12-17-2013 @ 12:25 PM]: There is no hurry in this right now. I do already have a general idea of the layout. I am just leaving it open for outside suggestions since this is a collaboration, and it would be unfair if I didn't allow others to provide any input. The planning of this will be held sometime later. You will be notified about this later.)

Thanks again for your contribution! You're all doing a wonderful job! :damphyr:

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 4 [12-19-2013 @ 10:35 AM]: I've been working on some additional details for the big picture such as doves and a cross with a flowing cloth. I'm also thinking of creating some kind of banner such as a long cloth or ribbon being held by two doves on each side with a message reading something like "Merry Christmas 2013" with every other color changing between red and green. I'm also pondering if we should make a border or picture frame around the big picture too...

Anyway yeah, so I'm doing further planning of the big picture layout.

:pointr: EDIT [@ 3:07 PM]: I've created my own chatroom on Chatzy.com, where you can also find me if you would like to discuss planning of the final artwork of this project, though I may be bouncing between tasks and my replies might be slow. The password is Jesus. You do not need to sign up for an account to enter.

:pointr: Enter my Planning Chatroom here

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 5 [12-21-2013 @ 9:50 AM]: We now have a banner! A few more coloring jobs may become available between now and the deadline. Looking for a volunteer to color some detail to a dove and to make some holly.*

*EDIT [12-22-2013 @ 10:40 AM]: A tree has been drawn but it is bare. Any volunteer free to offer to color and decorate the tree. A background is also in progress.

:bulletblue: Additional UPDATE 6 [12-22-2013 @ 1:33 PM]: A volunteer is currently coloring the tree and additional details. We are getting closer to completion of the big final picture.

However, there are still at least 12 chibi gift arts in need of coloring. For those who still plan on coloring their gift art, try to have yours completed as soon as you can. If you cannot find time to color your gift art, let me know and either I or a volunteer will have it colored for you. Thank you very much for your cooperation and understanding! :)

:bulletblue:Additional UPDATE 7 [Christmas Eve @ 9:12 AM]: Due to the understandable pacing of this month, the deadline has been extended to December 30th. Merry Christmas! :holly:

:bulletblue:Additional UPDATE 8 [Christmas Day @ 12:20 PM]: We now have a background and pretty must most of what is needed. There is still a handful of gift art that awaits to be colored (see UPDATE 6 above). Otherwise, we are close to completion! Very Merry Christmas, everyone! :holly: Hope your holiday is going great!

:bulletblue:Additional UPDATE 9 [12-29-2013 @ 12:30 PM]: The deadline is tomorrow and as I've suspected, some of you who have stated that you will color your gift art have yet to send me your colorings. I completely understand that plans can change (busy with work, family, unpredictable life events, etc.), or that you may have forgotten, or even procrastinated... Whichever the case may be, while I am still glad to have drawn something for you, it would be very helpful to clarify as soon as possible if you cannot do what you've said you will do (really, it takes a few seconds). That way nobody has to wait until the very last minute to make such decisions. Saying that you can't do something is a lot better than saying that you will do it and then remain silent throughout it all. Just be honest. ^^;

Sadly, I guess it can't always be helped whatever the case. Chances are that either I (or a volunteer) may have to color your work for you, or you may have to be left out of the big final picture (which I really don't want to do, because I love you guys and want all of you to be in it). And I can't just keep on changing the deadline. If you really want to be a part of the project, I would appreciate it very much if any of you could speak up. Please don't be shy. Procrastination hurts.

:bulletblue:Additional UPDATE 10 [12-30-2013 @ 9:57 AM]: Today is the deadline. Any unfinished colorings may be done and submitted today by 11:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (or for those with different time zones, when my Chatroom Status at the top reads OFFLINE). Some volunteers and I may try to color some unfinished gift art. Once again, it would be very much appreciated if you can notify me whether you can or cannot color your gift art. Hopefully the big final collab picture will be completed with as many people as possible by tomorrow. It will hopefully be submitted in my gallery sometime by then (or by January 1 the latest depending on how last minute submissions go). Thank you very much for reading!

:bulletblue:Additional UPDATE 11 [12-30-2013 @ 11:45 PM]: Time is up. Figuring that no one else would color their gift art in time, volunteers and I had to take matters into our own hands and help out with last minute coloring to include everyone in the big final picture. You're welcome.

The big final picture may likely be posted tomorrow--or so I'm hoping--after some last minute checks are done. Hope you all have a very happy new year!

To a faraway friend (if you are reading this):

I want to say thank you for the times we did have together. But I'm not the kind of person to pick and choose favorites (with the exception of Christ Jesus, who will always be number one). It was awkward enough to have been quickly labeled as your "best" friend in only a few days of meeting each other. Should I feel honored? Flattered? Well, hon, I know that you've gone through a number of things of your own and had been waiting for somebody to enter your life and give you all the love and attention that a "best" friend could give you. I can relate, but I too was once naiive to think that I could allow myself to become attached to someone to solve my loneliness issues; I didn't want you to fall for that trap like I once did. I choose to see everyone through an equal lens, including you, because Jesus would do the same. Having that said, I don't believe in "best" friends, not in the sense that you do. But I do believe in true friends. They're not the kind who would be able to give you everything you ever asked for; they're the kind who would support you, pray for you, and care about you regardless of what they receive in return, regardless of whether they can see or talk to each other, regardless if they have time to "catch up", regardless of what happens between them.

We were sent to each other for a reason: it was not because I was that "best" friend that you were supposedly "meant to have"; it was to help you establish a relationship with the one and only best friend that could ever exist:

Jesus Christ Himself.

Now that you've grown in your relationship with Jesus and have come a long way, and I hope that you continue walking with Him, it's been coming to a point in my life in which it seems that I've done what God had sent me to do for you. In a way, I saw this day coming and predicted that it would happen. I still have a duty/responsibility/path of my own to attend to, my own God-given purpose. Time is moving on and times are changing. I still have my path and you still have yours. If our paths are meant to cross then they will, but not ever forced.

I don't want or expect you to do anything for me, even if you could. A true friend should never have to demand or expect something from another but instead should be considerate of one's situation. However, because you established expectations for me, I know even now for sure that it is time that I go.

Do I mind talking to you? Not at all. But if you really understood my situation, then you wouldn't be expecting things from me, excuse or no excuse for why I have my path to follow. I've been weighed down by enough expectations from people. I don't even mind talking to you now if you wanted to talk to me. But why did this have to be a concern about "one-sidedness"? Life is not guaranteed to run the way you'd want it to. Make what you can of the situation at hand.

I know that you're hurting from this. I understand this as well. I too felt hurt by the situation as well as from your response. I saw this coming, and your response was a confirmation that things are meant to change.

If you haven't established what you've been given throughout the time that we've spent together, then perhaps that time spent apart is all the more reason to think about it. I will still pray for you and think of you and support your goals from afar. If you want to reach me, you know how to, even if it's something that you don't want to do.

Still, I thank God for sending you in my direction. I do not regret ever having met you or talked to you. Thank you, again, for the time that we've spent together.

God bless you dearly,
From a sister in Christ,

~ Jazzy C. Oaks :damphyr: [3-28-2012]
